Yeti Copilot / Winter driving

Slick roads

Slick road and winter driving help in Denver

Snow, ice and wet roads change how a car stops and turns. These habits help. I can coach them in your car.

The slick road checklist

I coach room, smooth moves, early braking and where to look. Here are a few habits:

  • Leave more room. Stopping takes much longer on snow and ice. Double your distance, or more.
  • Be gentle. Steer, brake and press the gas smoothly. Sudden moves make tires slip.
  • Slow down before the turn, not in it. Brake early while the car is straight.

The full checklist is in the client area after you book.

Merging on I-25 and I-70

To merge, match speed and pick a gap early. Check your mirror and your blind spot. Use the whole ramp. Once you pick a gap, commit. We practice this in the Defensive Session.

How I coach it

Slick roads are part of the Defensive Session. We work on room, speed, braking and reading the road.

This is coaching. It is not a driving school. It does not count toward a permit or license.

Get ready before the snow.

Text me what rattles you. We pick a time and a place.
